Indian Politics in the hot Indian Summer

Last couple of weeks have been very hectic due to work and personal reasons. Hence, I could not get time continue with the commentary

Three or four weeks is a long time in political landscape. Some of the quick reminders are:

1. Passport / human trafficking issue in Andhra Pradesh
2. Stunning victory of Mayawati or call it equally stunning defeat for Congress (I)
3. Visit of Andhra Pradesh CM to US and Singapore but without much dividends
4. The debate for the next President of India

No doubt the Passport / human trafficking issue hit on the back of the TRS Party. The cunning and sharp chief of the party K Chandraskara Rao is loosing his credibility along with the cause of the separate State. Unless the Congress does something silly again this time both Telengana and TRS is dusted. The emergence and decay of TRS party is a lesson for all the opportunistic politicians. In the end, no doubt it is Telugu Desam Party and Chandrababu Naidu are the winners. As the elections are two and half away, TDP is moving in the right direction while Congress is getting back to early 1980's story. With the UP results, Madam jee cannot effort to take a risk and YSR is sure to complete his term on his own terms. The coming days will see further frustration both with in the Congress Party in AP and outside.

Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi - are they hearing or listening to voters? The glory days are over. Mayawati success is an example of how to connect with the voters, share their concerns practically and win their votes. These Gandhi's never connected with the people nor with their party. God only knows what is happening in the Janpath Residence. if they have to improve their credibility and connect with the people the most important action needed from their end is to throw their poor advisers. How can Congress leaders give a statement that Rahul Magic worked very well, when they were washed out off the state that is considered to be their backbone!

YSR made fanfare visit to US. In his western outfits he was looking very smart. Mrs YSR with her big Bindi is looking like a holy Hindu housewife. All smiles and all relaxations. One good thing if at all can happen is - may be both ATA and TANA will join together and work for the welfare of the community and state.

Finally, who will be next President. To please dalits we have Shinde. To please Hindu's we have Shekawat. To please Bengalis we have Pranab. To please left we have Somnath. I do not think Kalam is still out of reckoning. In the end he might emerge as a consensus candidate. Let's hope all political parties wisdom will prevail and Kalam is renominated.
