Y S Rajasekhar Reddy - is he the smartest CM?

Leading a congress government is the like sleeping on thorns. The so called famed internal democracy requires extreme levels of energy, maneuvering skills and above all ability deal with the bottom end in the state and top end at the Delhi. Even for a seasoned politician, managing all these elements is a hercules tasks. The famous chanakya, P V Narasimha Rao could not rule the state for more than 2 years. Congress stalwarts like Janaradhan Reddy, Channa Reddy or Vijayabhaskara Reddy struggled all along during their tuners.

Y S Rajasekhar Reddy is a very deceptive and adaptive politician. He appears naive, but he knows how to deal with a situation. Even in the worst of circumstances, he knows how to keep his smile. He can reach out to anyone whom he thinks are needed for him. He can exclude anyone at any cost whom he consider a foe. There is lot of trust in his dealings with the people, while rest of all politicians struggle.

During the past fours years, one thing he proved without any ambiguity - that he is the undisputed leader in the state. Eight years back when the Chandrababu Naidu was at his peak - all the political pundits have written obituary for Congress in the state. From that nadir he brought Congress to the glory and zenith. Today, he is sitting happily and watching the opposition and Telugu Desam wriggling to gain ground in the state politics and ensure that they would not be out of reckoning in the next election.

He canniness to hijack opposition policies and allegations, into welfare schemes is a hallmark in his tenure. Both TDP and Prajarajyam Parties are struggling to find what else is left to attract the poor. In the end, the tone is changed from the schemes to their implementation and reach out.

YSR donned pro-farmer hat unlike Tech savvy CBN who was bitten to dust in the last elections. Yet, Rajasekhar Reddy did not ignore neither IT or other Technologies sectors unlike Chandrababu - who ignored irrigation and farming at the cost Technology. Today, Babu is taken a somersault and trying to project he is pro-farmer. At the best YSR remained nuetral with all the sectors.

YSR ability to keep the internal dissident demonstrates his exemplary political skills. One thing certain about this Chief Minister is, once he has taken a stand, he would not buckle even under extreme pressure. This happened when state has seen the worst of the Telengana crisis. Today, he maintains that consistency while both Chandrababu Naidu and Chiranjeevi are dilly dallying on the Telangana issue. When Telugu Desam joins the TRS - there is no doubt that Chandrababu Naidu will loose his credibility further and Rajasekhar Reddy will have the last laugh.

When almost entire media went against him in the state, he took the riskiest of all decision and let his son to start a news paper to counter the incumbency. Needless to say, this decision proved to be a success. Now both Andhra Jyothy and Eenadu are in big dilemma to whom to support, as they have understood for now that they cannot win a war against this rugged person from Rayalaseema.

Finally, dealing with Delhi and keeping the high command in fine fettle is not a mean task. Today, with the Government in Delhi looking fragile - both Andhra Pradesh and Y S Rajasekhar Reddy are seen a saviour. With the suspense behind Chiranjeevi unfolding - TDP in chaos and struggling to find a policy on various issues, the future is looking bright for Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.

Well, one thing everyone who read this blog will think why I did not talk about the corrupt Government, scams and kickbacks. Well, in my opinion - more or less, all the politicians in the state are corrupt. Is is not easy for anyone to answer how Chandrababu Naidu amassed wealth? Go and look at all politicians and their origins - and what they have amassed today. Cutting across the parties - who will see a consistency. I am not supporting corruption - but it has become integral part of the society. Even after the high moral talk from Chiranjeevi, the Prajarajyam Party also will land up with many corrupt practices.

Unlike other politicians, Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy has got consistency and that proved him to be the smartest from the rest.
