Karnataka Assembly results and best opportunity for YSR

The Congress defeat (or the decent victoryfor BJP) in Karnataka Elections gave the Andhra Pradesh CM Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy best of the opportunities to establish his credentials and future.

After UP, Gujarat now defeat in Karnataka Congress is out of power in majority states in India. Specially in South India, Andhra Pradesh remains only Congress. Until now, the position of Andhra CM is getting weaker as day passes due to various issues ranging from inflation, media war, poor administration, Telangana or a prospect of launch of political party Chirajeevi (and likely defections).

Plunged into the a mid term election due to Telengana issue, YSR is currently in middle of a political battle (or may be surival). Any loss in elections would make his position weaker and much more vulnerable. With the indications that the TRS is not going to retain all the seats that they have vacated, YSR is having an opportunity to open an account in these elections. A result better more than a zero is technically good news for Congress and for YSR in specific. This will help him to push his development case vis-a-vis sentiment. With indications that Telugu Desam Party also would do well in these elections, the net result looser, no doubt is K Chandra Sekhara Rao.

With debacle in Karnataka, Congress would not risk creating a big political turmoil in Andhra Pradesh by attempting to replace YSR (as a matter of fact, there is no real alternative to YSR in the state at this moment).

If Congress were to do well in these by-elections, YSR would become the real winner and will have opportunity to enhance his position both in Delhi and Hyderabad.

Let's wait and see what will happen when results come out in a week or ten days time
