I am surprised by the pre report submission comments and the confidence of the Justice Srikrishna. Telangana, this word is giving chills to all the Telugus across the world (of course, for those who have an interest in the Andhra Pradesh state affairs). The state administration has come to a virtual standstill since the demise of YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who could until then successfully controlled the emotions. At this juncture in Dec 2009, Government of India appointed Justice Srikrishna committee to look into the demand for the separate Telangana state and find the factual position of the entire state on social, economic and development angles. Sri Krishna committee has been given 1 year mandate and surprisingly (rare in India), the committee is due submit the report a day before the expiration of the term. This indeed is a commendable effort from the committee members.
There has been lot of speculation on what the committee would report and what would be the eventual outcome. Already the entire state of Andhra Pradesh is tense and on high alert. At this juncture, as a closing remark, Justice Srikrishna speaking to media at Hyderabad indicated that the report would provide a permanent solution and "satisfy" the majority.
Looking at the highly charged environment and sentiments of various groups, vertically split for united Andhra Predesh and seperate Telengana, it is would be a magic or highly impossible to find a solution that would be acceptable to all. Then where from Justice Srikrishna is getting this confident tone?
Despite all the sentiments and emotions for and against the bifurcation of the state, everyone knows that Hyderabad Metro is the key. All the emotions, power and key is nested around the Hyderabad. Andhra / Rayalaseema people cannot imagine the state without Hyderabad. Without Hyderabad being part of hypothetically created Telengana state is like an human body without heart - hence it is virtually a dead state. Geographically, Hyderabad is part of Telengana Region. But the fact is, Hyderabad has grown into a huge metropolis due to the migration and large investments made by the Andhra and Rayalaseema people.
Any solution must include Hyderabad for either sides. Did Justice Srikrishna find a Telangana solution like Tenali Ramalinga? In 16th century Srikrishnadeva Rayalu court, a family comes approaches the king for a solution on property distribution following their father death. The court officials distributes all the fixed and liquid assets except for 17 elephants. The ratio indicated in the Will, would not be possible without killing one of the elephants and distributing the dead body. Then, Tenali Ramalinga comes with a solution by adding Kings elephant and then find the ratio's of 1/2, then 2/3 and rest.
If Srikrishna committee were to find a solution to Hyderabad, the only way is to make to Union Territory and pass on to the Delhi Kings control.
Let's wait and see - if Srikrishna who incidentally comes from the Karnataka (part of the Vijayanagara empire) could find another Tenali Ramalinga solution for the Hyderabad, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh!
Until then, I woul call this an overconfident statement
