Recently Chandrababu Naidu raised a interesting and valid point regarding Inheritance and Inheritance Tax. Altready, BJP is trying to make a issue out of it saying it anti-Indian.
Many millions of people have crossed the Altantic over the decades with an American Dream. They have endured all the hardships to realise their ambitions. They enjoyed making money and creating wealth. In the end, we see huge list of Americans starting with Carnegie to Warren Buffett, who have given away their wealth to society and right causes. Most of them are first generation wealth creators. They did not get anything from their parents. Nor, did they leave anything huge for their heirs. These are the people who have realised a simple TRUTH that there is equal or even more joy in giving than taking. Hence, they in turn inspired the great American Dream. And this is a cycle, fueling ambitions, dreams and finally charity.
In India for majority, it is all about I. It starts with I and ends with I. The future is all about me, for my family and for my generations. Though there are many people who have given their wealth for the right causes, in the end - they fell short of inspiring an Indian Dream. With the liberalised economy, of late we are seeing more and more people have opportunity working towards charity and right causes. These are the people who can give quality life and opportunities to their children - not by free money but by showing how to make a living in this world. Yet, these acts of benevolence may well fall short of the expectations of more than a billion people and inspire thousands.
In this context what Chandrababu Naidu raised is a valid point. There are two aspects here. One is - as Babu suggested Government intervention. This is not going to work. At the most, people will find ways to avoid the taxes and see that money and wealth is channelled in indirect way to their heirs.
Second and most prolific act is - is in the hands of the new generations. With the quick wealth they are generating, they can inspire and fuel the ambitions and dreams by their own acts and deeds called Indian Dream. They can give away their wealth for the right causes and charity by setting a benchmark. This will naturally inspire the coming generations who will not look at their parents for their own future - rather they may dream, inspire and stand on their own.
What we lack today is people or leaders who can lead by examples. Since independence movement days, the tradition of giving away or renunciation of own wealth for society is slowly going away.
Well said Babu, let's hope you will lead by an example!

A nationwide credible "minimum" income guaranteed system for every one whether they work or not will bring in "dignity" instead of desperation for the working poor and "inheritance taxes" will stimulate "compassion" instead of collusion.
Such system will prevent all socioeconomic issues in India viz farmer suicides, dowry deaths, child labor, fear, frustration, corruption, bribery, prostitution, terrorism etc.
In USA,UK,Germany,Portugal, Brazil, Belgium etc this system is implemented.
